Irvine CA first "Non-toxic City", but Quebec takes back North American lead in pesticides control

Irvine CA first "Non-toxic City", but Quebec takes back North American lead in pesticides control

Adopted in 2003, Quebec’s Pesticides Code banned 20 active ingredients such as 2,4-D for lawn care but was since then surpassed by Ontario’s.

Quebec’s 2015-2018 Pesticides Strategy aims to beef up the Code this Fall:
it will triple the number or banned substances and reduce the use of most dangerous farming pesticides such as atrazine by 80%,
by demanding an agronomist prescribe them when needed.
